About Me
I'm Hannes, a Senior iOS Engineer based in Austria. My journey in software engineering has always been driven by a fascination with the intersection of technical performance and human-centered design. Whether I'm architecting a complex synchronization layer or refining a micro-interaction, my goal is to build software that feels inevitable and effortless.
The Professional Path
Currently, I am a Software Developer at Anexia Digital Engineering, where I focus on building a comprehensive Mobility as a Service (MaaS) platform. After implementing the platform's core booking web app, I am now architecting a dedicated drivers application for iOS. This app leverages the HERE SDK for integrated, high-precision navigation, guiding drivers through complex routes from pickup to dropoff. It handles the critical real-time lifecycle of journeys, from tracking boarding and no-shows to allowing on-the-fly booking modifications and passenger additions.
Before joining Anexia, I spent over four years at Alturos Destinations. Working in an environment that encouraged technical freedom and autonomy, I contributed to the architecture of high-scale codebases for major alpine regions like Jungfrau, Zillertal, and Andermatt. This included modularizing the core systems by creating and maintaining over 20 internal Swift Packages. Together with a colleague, I architected a custom synchronization layer away from Contentful SDK to our own solution. This reduced data sync times from a cold boot from 45 minutes to just 3.5 minutes.
Beyond mobile experiences for visitors, I built a Validity Checker used for scanning and validating tickets. This project leveraged Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) for shared business logic, paired with a native SwiftUI layer to ensure a high-performance, polished user interface.
I also worked extensively on Skiline, an app serving over 3 million users, where I focused on UI modernization, gamification features, and social connectivity. My career began with a diverse foundation at pixelpoint multimedia, working as a 3D Designer and Web Developer, which deeply informed my eye for visual detail and spatial design.
Independent Craft
Outside of my corporate roles, I operate Keyvity e.U. with my wife, which is our studio for independent iOS and macOS development. This is where we explore focused, privacy-conscious tools and turn practical problems into polished apps:
-
SubSafe A privacy-first subscription tracker for recurring bills, renewals, and monthly spending. It helps create subscription drafts from shared PDFs, selected Mail text, or pasted receipts, using Apple Intelligence on compatible devices when available. Data stays local by default, with no bank connection required. View on the App Store -
Dogtales A comprehensive dog diary for tracking health, habits, and memories. Built with SwiftUI and featuring deep system integrations like Widgets and Family Sharing. View on the App Store -
AutoLens An AI-powered car identifier that leverages machine learning to provide instant technical information from a single photo. View on the App Store -
Mergity (macOS) A specialized utility for merging large PDF documents. It was designed to solve the stability issues and frequent crashes in standard system tools when handling the merging of hundreds of academic slides into a single document. View on the App Store
Education & Research
My technical foundation was built at Alpen-Adria Universität Klagenfurt. I hold a BSc in Applied Informatics with a specialization in Human Centered Computing. My thesis explored the possibilities of Augmented Reality, creating an ARKit-based Swift application for spatial poster placement.
During my studies, I also worked as a tutor for Introduction to Structured and Object-Oriented Programming at Alpen-Adria Universität Klagenfurt, supporting students as they built their foundation in programming.
Continuing my academic pursuit, I earned an MSc in Game Studies and Engineering, focusing on Game Engineering. My Master's thesis, titled "Attention Please!", allowed me to dive deep into the mechanics of engagement and interactive systems. I still apply these principles to every app I build today.
